In the fine article it had nothing to do with midterms:
Quote:
This week has an echo from 1896. The day after William McKinley won the White House that November, the Dow jumped about 4.5%, then gave back about 2% the next session.
They're upset and worried now that their crony toilet was flushed.

I suspect this is more about all but one of the datacenter moratoriums which were also up to vote passing.

Which I think is overall good, not really the moratorium thing itself, but the fact that real human voters have a clear unambiguous preference that to everyone's surprise is being respected and implemented. Not getting steamrolled over by companies greasing the right palms is amazing.
Imagine, voters in a democracy being able to decide what behavior we find unacceptable rather then it being dictated at us by the richest person in the room.

“Worst post midterm day since 1896”
Would a load of hysterical rubbish.
“markets routed in worst day after I had marmalade for breakfast since last time this happened”

Except for the fact that 1896 was - not - a midterm election year
